Professional Background in the Insurance Industry
Jerry Nicklow is an experienced insurance professional, insurance marketer, and insurance blog writer with a career spanning nearly three decades. He has worked in the insurance industry since 1995 and currently serves as part of the leadership team at Huff Insurance, an independent insurance agency. Jerry graduated summa cum laude from Salisbury University in 1995, bringing a strong academic foundation to his work in insurance education and communication.
Insurance Marketing and Blog Writing Experience
In 2008, Jerry expanded his role to focus on insurance marketing and educational content creation. Since then, he has written extensively about personal insurance, commercial insurance, and risk management topics, with a goal of making insurance easier to understand for individuals, families, and business owners. His insurance blog content is based on real-world experience and is designed to help readers better understand coverage options, common insurance questions, and how insurance applies to everyday situations.
Industry Education and Professional Designations
Jerry is committed to ongoing professional development and regularly attends insurance industry conferences to stay informed on coverage trends, regulatory changes, and best practices for independent insurance agencies. He holds several respected insurance designations, including API (Associate in Personal Insurance), AAI (Accredited Adviser in Insurance), and AIS (Associate in Insurance Services). In addition to writing, Jerry has been invited to speak with other insurance professionals on insurance marketing strategies and agency growth and has appeared on industry podcasts to share insights on digital marketing and communication within the insurance industry.

Industry Leadership and Community Involvement
Outside of his professional work, Jerry is actively involved in the insurance industry and the local community. He has served in leadership roles including Past Chairman of the Board for the Independent Insurance Agents of Maryland and Past President of the Pasadena Business Association. He also served 6 years on the board of the Anne Arundel Community College Foundation and established the Jerry Nicklow Student Athlete Scholarship in 2009 to support student athletes with financial need.
Personal Interests
Jerry enjoys spending time with his wife Nancy and their two children, Allie and Dalton, who both work with the agency. He also enjoys family travel, including cruises and trips to Disney World, and staying engaged with local business and community initiatives.
